Ever wonder what the Charleston-based magazine Garden & Gun would be like in restaurant form?

You’ll be able to find out starting tonight when Garden & Gun Club, from the company behind the Southern lifestyle publication, open its doors at The Battery at SunTrust Park.

The eatery and cocktail bar is the first brick-and-mortar “hospitality experience” for the magazine, according to a press release.

Open daily at 11am, the spot offers an all-day menu of “updated versions of Southern favorites” from chefs Mike Lata and Adam Nemirow of FIG and The Ordinary in Charleston, South Carolina. Dishes include pimento cheese
buttermilk crackers and crudités, cornmeal fried white shrimp with comeback sauce and a variety of raw bar options such as blue crab cocktail claws, peel and eat shrimp and deviled crab.

On the beverage side, coffee from La Colombe will be available throughout the day, with a selection of cocktails, wines, beers and extensive bourbon and rye lists available at night.

Designed with Workstead, which also worked on The Dewberry and the Wythe Hotel, the 1,700-square foot space features elements including leather bar stools, steel pedestal tables and an antique china cupboard that serves as a service station.

A cocktail bar at the center of the front room can seat up to 21 customers, with table seating for up to 38 surrounding a raw bar in the rear main dining room as well as outdoor seating.

A retail shop will feature goods made by Southern artisans and makers from Garden & Gun’s e-commerce site Mercantile + Co, and the waitstaff uniforms are designed by Atlanta-based Sid and Ann Mashburn.
