The Chelsea Room, a stylish art and music driven lounge and bar is now open at 221 N. Clark St. in The Loop. Named after Chelsea, New York City’s art district, The Chelsea Room was inspired by the vibrant art scene of the 70s and 80s, paying homage to famous contemporary artists while giving a nod to today’s artists. Guests will enter through Early Society to find a vivid, colorful space full of contemporary, pop culture-inspired art.
Sleek leather booths and retro sofas are surrounded by art replicated from or inspired by famous artists like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Banksy. Massive graffiti murals line the walls, and art installations like a 3-D speaker wall and a vinyl record-lined DJ booth add eye-catching elements to the space. The works exhibited in The Chelsea Room were made by local artists Karin Tryon, Julio Salazar, Traz Juarez and more. The Chelsea Room will act as a gallery with rotating art on display and encourages local artists to submit their work.
Open Wednesday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., The Chelsea Room never charges a cover and will welcome local DJs like Greg Corner, DJ Hiroki, DJ Brock, and DJ Larry Miller.
