Project: EATS will provide various local food vendors with music and games.
Thousands are expected to attend a two-day beach-themed food festival in Downtown Jersey City this weekend.
Project: EATS returns for its fifth summer at Grove and Montgomery streets on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The free event will feature music, games, and of course plenty of food choices. Attendees will be able to purchase ready-to-eat and take-home food options from more than 40 local food vendors.
“People in Jersey City really appreciate the great food options that have popped up in the city over the past six years,” said MacAdam Smith, a member of The Jersey City Project, the group that puts on the event each year.
“From the Downtown, all along Newark Ave, Journal Square, the Heights, Bergen —the community has embraced so many great new restaurants, food trucks, and vendors,” Smith said.
The Jersey City Project is also partnering with other local nonprofits to support city organizations and individuals in need. Extra food will be donated to St. Lucy’s Emergency Shelter by the Downtown Community Church, while monetary donations will be made to The Sharing Place, the city’s largest food bank.
The Jersey City Project, a nonprofit that highlights and encourages growth for small businesses in the city, also hosts Project: MARKET each December, featuring local food and gift vendors.
