Celebrating your independence is always easier with a cold drink in hand.

As is well known to every American child, our forefathers declared independence on the Fourth of July.  As an adult, I’ve theorized that perhaps it was the heat was getting to them.  In all my years, I cannot ever recall a Fourth that didn’t involve sweating profusely.

Celebrating your independence is always easier with a cold drink in hand. This Rosé, White, and Blue Gin Fizz is a festive and refreshing way to ring in the holiday. Summer berries add a seasonal taste (and important color palette!) to each sip, while the floral notes in the gin pair nicely with the rest of the punch.

The key to a great summer drink is to be sure that all the ingredients are freezing cold before assembly.

The gin and limoncello can be safely placed in the freezer.  Due to their high alcohol content, they will not freeze. Store the rest of the ingredients in the refrigerator until the moment of assembly. Have lots of ice in a bucket close by to help your guests stay cool while they await the fireworks.

Wishing you a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Rosé, White and Blue Gin Fizz

2 cups sliced strawberries

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup blueberries

1 cup Gin

1/2 cup limoncello

1 liter club soda

1 bottle rosé wine

  1. Place the strawberries and sugar in the bottom of a large pitcher. Mash them with a spoon.
  1. Add the blueberries, gin, limoncello, and rosé wine to the pitcher. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  1. Just before serving, add the club soda to the pitcher. Stir well.
  1. Fill a glass with copious amounts of ice before pouring.

This recipe will yield one pitcher, or about twelve drinks.
