Strings Ramen Shop executive chef Katie Dong continues to expand the menus at Strings’ three locations, with seasonal specials, and items exclusive to each location.
While the focus remains ramen, with more than one-dozen varieties, all featuring Strings special-recipe homemade noodles, the menu also includes a line-up of appetizers, yakisoba, sashimi and meat rice bowls, maze soba, desserts and more.
Chef Katie’s new seasonal creations include Hiyashi Chuka — chilled ramen noodles tossed with yuzu soy, topped with scallop sashimi, ikura, cucumber jalapeño salad, scallion oil drizzle, crispy french onions, $15.95, available at Strings Chinatown location only.
Exclusive to Strings’ Lakeview location is the new, seasonal Napolitan Yakisoba — stir fried ramen noodles with kuro buta sausage, red onions, jalapenos, tossed in a tangy sweet and sour tomato sauce, $12.99.
At Strings’ recently-opened Madison, Wisconsin outpost, Chef Katie’s spin on Yakisoba remains a popular hit, featuring Kansai-style stir-fried noodles, sliced pepperoni, sunny side up eggs, and choice of toppings like kuro buta, turkey, or spicy clams and pork, $13.95.
Since opening in February 2014 in Chicago’s Chinatown, Strings Ramen Shop has expanded to include the Chicago-Lakeview location, opened July 2017, and a Madison, Wisconsin outpost at 311 North Frances Street opened early this year.
