Tired of your old haunts? Let us give you the low-down on the best new bars in Dubai that have just opened or about to open. With such a buzzing dining and drinking scene, there’s bound to be a new haunt on the list!
There’s bars you go to for a laid back drink on a week-night, or when you’re just not in the mood to get super dressed up and you just want a good glass of red wine. And then there’s bars that are a treat, something special. Those that require your best new shoes and outfits and have you gazing longingly at the endless list of cocktails to decide what your first, second and third drinks are going to be. Dubai has both, of course, and there’s always new places in both categories opening up. So let’s take a look at what’s new in Dubai!
The Backyard, Steigenberger Business Bay – This is one in the laid back category. Serving food truck and street food bites, with low-key trendy décor and a spectacular view of some of Dubai’s skyline, you can wear your sneakers and still have an amazing night out at this new bar.
BarBary, TRYP by Wyndham Barsha Heights – A deli and cocktail bar in one. A hip new concept with a retro vibe, playing electro jazz and serving up mean drinks. We think you should give it a try!
Liqd, TRYP by Wyndham Barsha Heights – This is BarBary’s pool-side sister. It serves tapas instead of deli fare, and in winter months is obviously an ideal spot for a sundowner and a few more. And on weekends, there’s nothing better than to float around on your flamingo with a little ice cold drink in your hand.
Cuisinero Uno, Steigenberger Business Bay – This is a nice hybrid new bar. Serving modern tapas and endless creative cocktails in a rustic yet cosy atmosphere, this could be a great venue for a fancy birthday dinner, or a good conversation on Saturday night. There’s an open plan kitchen so lots to see as well.
Socialista, DIFC – This new bar is members only, unfortunately, and therefore all the more stylish. At the same time it has a sitting room feel to it, rather than the uber-trendy bar, so although you may not be able to wear your jeans, you can also sit back and relax after a long week’s work.
Scarlet Cardinal, Sofitel JBR – This great new bar has just opened up at Sofitel in JBR. They focus on live music from all over the world, so if you’re looking for something other than the latest dance and hip hop, this is a perfect place to be on a Friday night!
Gotha, Radisson Blu Business Bay – Not open yet, and all the more anticipated for it. Straight from Cannes, Gotha is set to open in December and should be hosting some pretty sweet gigs once it opens its doors. This is one of the fancy ones, wear your Louboutin’s and that new Valentino dress and drink champagne all night.
Lock, Stock & Barrel, Rixos Premium JBR – While the other anticipated venues at Rixos Premium are still due to open (think Black Tap), LSB has opened and its roaring. It’s a party bar with a lot more space than the first branch. Expect Southern comfort food and also some new street-food twists at this favourite weekend haunt.
Cobra Kai, Media One – Mr. Miyagi next door may be a little too Karate Kid for you. Thankfully there’s also the Cobra Kai bar. Designed to look like a Thai street bar – sitting on plastic stools next to a little tuktuk, this new bar serves great cocktails and has a laid-back, easy going vibe going. There are high tables and a lounge area.
Miss Wangs, Majestic Hotel – Who would have thought that Mankhool road wold be host to a cool new bar? It feels a bit like the Chinese mafia’s hide-out with rustic and Asian décor elements. Bites are also Asian inspired. The real challenge though, is to find it. In the tradition of the popular speakeasy’s it’s a bit hidden and it’s behind an unmarked door. Happy hunting!
