Where can you find N.J.'s best cheap eats? Nominate your favorite places as we compile the ultimate N.J. cheap eats guide.
The term “cheap eats” probably doesn’t get the respect it deserves; to many, it signals food that’s certainly cheap but not necessarily great, or even good.
We’re about to change that. Starting today, you can nominate your favorite cheap eats spots as we compile the ultimate N.J. cheap eats guide — highly recommended restaurants of varying cuisines where you can get a great dinner for about $10 or lunch for about $5-$7.50.
We don’t mean early bird specials — every Jersey diner and scores of other restaurants have those — but places where about $10 or less gets you a memorable meal every hour, every day.
We’re looking for great bargains across the dining landscape. Mexican restaurants and taquerias; Chinese, Indian, Thai and other Asian restaurants; seafood shacks; Southern and soul food restaurants; Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern restaurants; Caribbean and South American restaurants and more — all cuisines are fair game.
This isn’t a formal N.J.’s best showdown. There will be no voting, but after the nominations close, I will spend several weeks visiting as many of the recommended spots as possible, and, also drawing on my own experience, come up with the best picks in various categories. You tell us where to go, so make sure to get your nominations in!
Nominations can be made until noon Friday, May 18.
